Busymate DevTools captures traffic from the devices and browsers you choose and shows it in one dashboard. Every device is set up the same way: create your account, install the capture client for that device, sign in to pair it, then trust the certificate so HTTPS can be decrypted.
Before you start: your account
- Open dash.busymate.dev on a computer and sign in with Apple, Google or email. The first sign-in creates your account.
- Keep the dashboard open. Every device you pair appears under Devices, and its traffic lands in the feed live.
Use the same account on every device. Signing in on a device is what pairs it to your dashboard; there is no separate pairing code.
iPhone or iPad
- Install Busymate DevTools from the App Store (iOS 16 or later). Beta builds are on TestFlight at ios.busymate.net.
- Open the app and accept the network-capture consent screen.
- Sign in with Apple or with your email and password. This pairs the iPhone; it shows up in the dashboard's Devices tab as Online.
- Tap the yellow Not Ready card on the home screen and follow the setup sheet: tap Download, open the Settings app and tap the Profile Downloaded banner, tap Install, then turn on full trust in Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust Settings. The card turns green (Ready) on its own.
- Turn capture on with the home-screen toggle. Choose VPN (system-wide) or Wi-Fi PAC mode; see VPN vs PAC modes.
- Add the domains you want decrypted to the SSL-proxy list.
Full guides: Install & pair · Trust the certificate · Set up Wi-Fi PAC.
Android phone or tablet
- Install Busymate DevTools from Google Play (Android 7.0 or later). A sideload APK is also available at android.busymate.dev.
- Open the app and accept the Before you start consent screen.
- Sign in with Google or with your email and password. This pairs the phone to your dashboard.
- Tap Setup incomplete on the home screen and follow Set up capture: download the certificate, install it as a CA certificate (Settings → Security → Encryption & credentials → Install a certificate → CA certificate), and allow notifications.
- Turn capture on with the home-screen toggle and accept Android's VPN connection request.
- To decrypt your own app's HTTPS on an unrooted phone, add the network security config described in Inspect your own Android app.

Mac, Windows or Linux: browser traffic
The fastest way to capture a website or web app is the bmc command-line tool. It launches a Chrome window whose traffic streams to your dashboard, with no proxy or certificate to install.
- Install it. On macOS or Linux run
curl -fsSL https://cdp.busymate.net/install.sh | sh; on Windows PowerShell runirm https://cdp.busymate.net/install.ps1 | iex. Node 18 or newer is installed for you when missing. - Run
bmc loginand sign in in the browser window that opens. - Run
bmc start. Browse in the Chrome window that opens; requests appear in the dashboard.
Full guides: Install & sign in · Capture a Chrome.
Mac, Windows or Linux: desktop apps and other clients
To capture a desktop app, another browser, a backend service or a device without the app, route it through the Busymate proxy server.
- Use the hosted proxy at
proxy.busymate.net(nothing to install), or run your own copy. - Point the client or the system proxy settings at the proxy; see Connect a client.
- Trust the proxy's CA on that machine so HTTPS can be decrypted; see Trust the CA.
Full guide: Install & run.
Check that it works
- In the dashboard, open Devices: each paired device shows Online.
- Open any website or app on the device. Its requests appear at the top of the feed within a second or two.
- Click a request to read its headers and decrypted body in the inspector.
Nothing showing up? Check that the device is signed in to the same account as the dashboard, that capture is on, that the certificate shows as trusted (iOS and Android show a green Ready card), and that the domain is in your SSL-proxy list. You can also ask for help from inside either app; see Get help from inside the app.
